Why ‘Irish for Parents Online’?

Irish for Parents Online was created by Caitríona de Róiste, an Irish teacher, an Irish speaker and advocate for the Irish language based on her own frustration with the lack of supports available to parents wanting to return to the language in order to support their children on their own Irish language journey.

After many years of parents asking for advise regarding the learning of Irish but a lack of options available, Caitríona took the issue into her own hands and created an online course, specifically for parents to use in the home, and suitable for all the family, due to her own experience as an oral Irish examiner at Leaving Cert level.

Caitríona also understands the time-restricting challenges faced by parents, meaning many are unable to leave the home to attend evening classes or group meetings to learn Irish, and so, she decided to use an online platform to bring the learning into the home and make it easy and accessible to learn Irish.

“It should be accessible to all”

“I used to have parents sitting in front of me at parent/teacher meetings saying, “What can I do for my child? Is there any way I can help support them?”

“IrishforParentsOnline has transformed my approach to language learning with its simple guidance and friendly approach to bringing Irish into the home.”
